Expedia’s Viewfinder compiled a list of the best downtowns in North America, and downtown Prescott made the list! The criteria was based on local arts venues, captivating historical sites, unique shopping experiences, one of a kind dining opportunities and access to urban greens space.

Downtown Whiskey Row
The downtown area has a large number of Saloons, art galleries and candy shops. Known as Whiskey Row dating back to 1864 it was visited by many well-known figures of that time, including Doc Holliday and the Earp brothers.
Virgil Earp, Wyatt Earp’s older brother, lived in Prescott in 1879 and told him of the boom town in Tombstone, Arizona. Tombstone prospered from about 1877-1890 through the mining of silver bullion. It has also been rumored that Doc Holliday spent some time in Prescott just before heading to Tombstone.

Destroyed in the fire, Whiskey Row was restored, and today it stands as a monument to the past. From mining to the Indian wars of the late 1800’s, Prescott AZ was the very center of activity and commerce in the region.
